He's Alive

Last night several of us watched The Passion of the Christ here at the house. First I have to say that I was not so thrilled about watching it. The last time I saw it was in the movie theater about 5 years ago. I remember the emotions it stirred and the images it left.

Everyone should watch this movie. As I was watching it last night I just kept thinking "He did this for me, for me...He loves me that much...." I am not worthy. I kept wanting to think oh it wasn't that bad. They really didn't do that to him. I am not worthy. The truth is we don't know how bad it was. It could have been that bad or even worse. I am not worthy. I know there are parts of the movie that are questionable, but it makes you think. It reminds you of what it really is all about. It reminds you of the sacrifice. I am not worthy. It prepares your heart and mind for the significance of this Sunday. Or at least it did mine.

Thank you for suggesting it Steve. I believe it will have to become an Easter tradition. No more than that though. I never want to become desensitized to the images and feelings. I never want to watch it without tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. I never want it to be just another movie. I am not worthy.

After the movie finished Courtney started singing He's Alive. I have not been able to get it out of my head. Hopefully it will be sung at church on Sunday. I am including it below as well as one of my all-time favorite Easter songs.

"He's Alive" by Dolly Parton

The video below is not the best, but it is the song, the words you are supposed to listen to anyways. My mawmaw played this for Kady and I constantly growing up. We will never forget it. It is powerful.

"Amen" By Larnelle Harris

Although I am not worthy, here I am Lord. Take me.

  1. I haven't watched the movie either since it was in the theater. It's weird because Donnie and i were just talking about this the other day. I feel just like you and had the same feelings and emotions (and sobbing tears saying I'm not worthy) when I watched it. I told him it's a great movie but not one you can stand to watch over and over again because you don't want to desentize yourself.
